The short answer is,
my current contract doesn't have an end date.
The long answer is,
it is a myth that we, contractors, have contracts.
The reality is that, "No, we don't". The reality is that we,
contractors, are pretty much like regular, "permanent" employees.
We have no contracts giving us special rights, privileges,
or special obligations that regular "permanent" employees do not
already have. If we have contracts, they tend to be one-sided agreements
NOT worth the paper they're printed on.
It is a myth that we, contractors, get fixed-term contracts
when we provide services to Corporations. The truth is that no, we don't.
Why? Because there are double standards. It isn't in any recruiting manual,
but recruiters are encouraged NOT to subject Corporations to the same high
contract standards that we, customers of Corporations, have to accept. And
when you observe recruiters, they do indeed treat Corporations more leniently.
For example, do my contracts ever SAY anything about how long my services
are needed? NO, they never do.
My current contract doesn't have an end date.
