But This is a "Permanent" Position.
Q: But this is a "permanent" position.
A: In today's economy nothing is permanent,
except change.
In today's economy, reorganizations and layoffs
are so common that they're not even
in the news anymore.
"Permanent" jobs, especially "permanent" jobs in
software engineering, are either being eliminated
or sent to India, China, or Russia where wages
and salaries are lower.
Of course, there are exceptions and sometimes
you see a few "permanent" jobs that have lasted
longer than two years,
but they're not the rule, only
a few exceptions to the rule.
"Permanent",
"direct", "contract-to-direct"
and "full time" are becoming euphenisms
for a 2+ year contracts at low rates. And these
low rates
get even lower if we take into account a
"negative benefits" like
ZERO per diem money and
ZERO overtime money. (9/10-C1)
